Dzoragyugh Village, Lori Region, Armenia
Population: 250 as reported by COAF in 2020
Dzoragyugh was founded in 1804 by families from Artsakh during the Russo-Persian war. It was named after the Dzoragyugh village in the southernmost part of Artsakh. Reporting on Artsakh by Civil Net with satellite imagery from 2020 to 2024, most of the dozens of houses standing before the war were damaged or destroyed by Azerbaijan.
Renovations to the abandoned Dzoragyugh school in the Lori Region have been funded and supported by UNICEF, Teach For Armenia, COAF, and others. The existence of schools in rural areas are few and access is difficult, as roads are notoriously rocky, narrow, and winding off of the main highways.
